GALAPAGOS PACKAGE LENGTH (3, 4 or 7 NIGHTS)
The first and last day of any given cruise (or hotel package) is mainly occupied travelling to and from mainland Ecuador. Flights depart mainland Ecuador between 07h30 and 09h30, arriving into Galapagos between 09h30 and 11h30 in the morning of the first day of any given cruise. Furthermoe, flights take off from Galapagos between 10h15 and 12h15 in the morning of the last day of a cruise. Therefore, the first day is really half a day, while the last day is barely a quarter day in Galapagos. All the other days are full days.
A 7-night package is really 6 full days in Galapagos, with two short days at the beginning & end. Similarly a 4-night package is really 3 full days in Galapagos, with two short days at the beginning & end, while a 3-night package is only two full days, with two short days at the beginning & end.
On a cost-per-day basis, the longer you are in Galapagos, the better value it is on a cost-per-day basis. The cost of the airline ticket and Park entrance fee remain the same, regardless of the actual time spent in Galapagos.
